How to Build Storage Shelves (In a Cold Room)

A look at the complete Shelves. They are free standing as I did not want to put any holes into the cinder blocks.

Each individual shelf is made of 2 long 2x4s cross braced with 4 2x4s attached with just 2 3" screws at each connection point. The tops are 16" melamine particle board cut to length and screwed down with 1.5" construction screws. 6 of these shelves were made.

I made some 4' by 4' shelves in the one end. These have a 2x6 vertical support in each corner. They are square framed 2x4 with one cross brace 2x4 and the melamine board was jig saw notched around each 2x6.

For these 3 longer shelves one end is supported by the 4' by 4' shelves and the other by the middle 2x6s.

Everything it screwed into the 2x6s with 4 3" screws in each end/post.

The far side longer shelves were simply screwed on the same way and that's all she wrote.
